With heartfelt thanks that I write to say what a wonderful experience this Westminster weekend has been. The writing conference was so inspiring and motivating! You put on an awesome event, and you and your team are to be highly commended for such a smooth-running day. Thank you for the gorgeous pen. You wore your heart on your sleeve as you announced me as the scholarship winner, and I was truly moved. I wish I had had the opportunity to meet Mordecai, but I am grateful to have been touched by his spirit in this meaningful way.

In memory of Mordecai Siegal, the Business of Pet Writing Conference is not offering a scholarship this year but reducing the price of the conference so that more writers can take advantage of the conference by affording to participate!

Morton Siegal, author of thirty-three books, passed away on Thursday evening, April 1, 2010, after suffering declining health for several years. The publishing world knew Morton Siegal as Mordecai, the pet name that his mother called him as a small child, and that he preferred. Mr. Siegal was an eloquent speaker, mentor and President Emeritus of the Dog Writers Association of America, an organization he truly loved.

In 2009, he was presented with the prestigious DWAA Hall of Fame Award on the floor of Madison Square Garden during the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show. That was truly his crowning achievement!

Throughout his career, Mordecai spent time providing advice and friendship to many writers. He recognized that choosing a career in writing, especially pet writing, is not as lucrative as we all would like.

In memory of Mordecai, the conference rate is $125.00.
